Hideki Matsuyama is a renowned golfer who hails from Japan. He is one of the few top players from Japan to ever win the Masters Tournament. Hideki Matsuyama hails from a Japanese family based in Matsuyama region of Ehime. His father was very much interested in golf as he played it during his younger days and took his son to the golf training since the age of 4. In this way, Hideki became very skilled at a young age even when he was doing primary education in his hometown.
As his hometown did not have good facilities for golf, he was transferred to Meitoki Gijuku Junior and Senior High school when he was in 8th grade. The Kochi Prefecture school had good facilities for golf and helped Hideki to mould his skills. He later moved to Sendai to join Tohoku Fakushi University to complete his graduation.
At the age of 18, he won the Asian Amateur Championship in 2010. He was later qualified to participate in the Masters tournament in 2011 and became the first Japanese golfer to attain this merit. In 2016, Hideki was all set to appear in the Rio Olympics but the Zika Virus epidemic forced him to withdraw from the series. Many Japanese players did not play in the Olympics for the same reason in that year.
